Illegal Aliens
Although not many people read this blog I can't stand it any longer and must comment on the situation in Phoenix, AZ. Incredible as it may sound, there are people in Phoenix protesting the newly enacted Arizona law regarding illegal aliens. It is obvious to me that the protesters haven't got the foggiest what the law says and that they are there for the sake of the protest itself no matter what the issue and to create chaos and behave unruly and perhaps even rough up the police.
Had they read the law before starting the protest they would have discovered that the new Arizona law repeats a federal law already on the books. So there is nothing new under the Arizona sun. To me Arizona is making a statement by accepting the federal law to be a state law. Their statement accuses the federal government of dereliction of duty under the Constitution. The way I see it the government of the United States of America are in dereliction of duty to guard the borders and protect its citizens as required by our Constitution. Thus the federal government created untenable situation in the United States as a whole and the border states in particular. In addition, the federal government did not heed requests for better control of the border for years on end.
I can understand why our so called elected representatives would want to encourage illegal immigration from Mexico. Cheap labor for Republicans and potential voters for Democrats. It is obvious that the politicians are putting their own narrow interests first and above the safety and welfare of the public. And the "open border" crowd is not helping to resolve the issue either, that's for sure.
So, here is my "Immigration Reform" Program:
1. Temporarily deploy National Guard and/or Army on the Mexican border immediately to stop further breaches of the border.
2. With the stimulus money already passed by the Congress hire and train enough Border Patrol agents to guard all of our borders the way it ought to be done so they can take over from the National Guard/Army in 18 months. Anyone still maintaining that Army cannot guard borders consult with Russia and North Korea.
3. Install electronic surveillance equipment on the border to report any breach of the border and make image(s) of the intruder(s). All the prisons have it why not the border.
4. Register all illegals already in the United States.
5. All illegals to pay $1,000 fine. Time payments may be arranged. $1o billion dollars, plus or minus, thus collected to be applied to government debt. Law shall be passed to enact balanced budget for the federal government.
6. Deport all illegals without a job except family members of those who have jobs.
7. Illegals who are parents of children born in the United States will be allowed to stay.
8. All illegals who are permitted to stay may request naturalization after 5 years in the United States and may become non-voting citizens.
9. Establish a work program. Companies with jobs which cannot be filled for reasons allowed under the law with Americans or illegal aliens already in the United States will register their positions with the Department of Labor with the appropriate documents required by law.
10. United States will advertise the approved positions in Mexico and/or other countries and will fill the positions and issue work visa.
How is that? And you thought I was just making ATC's. Fooled you, didn't I?
